Important information on Fall Panicum Panic Grass (aka switch grass)
Fourteen horses at a boarding stable in Virginia were diagnosed with hepatic disease and locally grown hay (Panicum grass) was implicated as the cause. It is important to note that this grass can be deadly to horses.

We wanted to remind everyone that this is the time of year that impaction colic is most common. Make sure that your horse has plenty of warm water to drink since many horses are less likely to drink ice cold water. Also, acupuncture can be a GREAT help to moving an impaction colic in conjunction with fluids and western medicines, so please let us know if you need our services and Dr. Jana will be more than happy to come out.
